Word + Walk: The Shoot of Jesse
✝️ Sermon Recap: The Shoot of Jesse
Text: Isaiah 11:1–10
Big Idea: The burnt stump may signal judgment, but God grows something beautiful from it. From the line of Jesse comes not just a shoot but a Savior. The promised Spirit-anointed ruler doesn't just redeem Israel—He restores creation, reconciles enemies, and reigns with justice and peace. This is the strange but sure hope we have in Christ.
I. A Strange & Sure Hope (Isaiah 11:1–5)
The shoot from the burnt stump looks weak but is deeply rooted in the promises of God.
God's Spirit rests on Him—He is led by divine wisdom, not human sight.
He delights in the fear of the Lord and brings justice with His Word.
This is no ordinary ruler—He is powered by righteousness and faithfulness.
II. A Hope That Starts Now (Isaiah 11:6–9)
Through Christ, a new Eden has begun.
Peace replaces violence—natural enemies dwell together.
The serpent's power is nullified—children play where danger once lived.
The earth is being filled with the knowledge of God—and the Church is its beginning.
III. An All-Encompassing Kingdom (Isaiah 11:10)
Jesus is both the shoot and the root of Jesse.
He stands as a signal for the peoples—drawing all nations to Himself.
His resting place is glorious—a promise of eternal peace and inclusion for all who come.
